Senior Engineer - Procurement

Role Overview

This position focuses on strategic procurement activities supporting R&D projects, encompassing prototype and new product introduction (NPI) components, along with essential engineering and laboratory equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Source low-volume, varied electrical components such as PCBAs, semiconductors, connectors, and cable harnesses.
• Procure diverse mechanical parts including CNC machined items, sheet metal assemblies, plastic components, and 3D-printed parts.
• Manage procurement amidst frequent design changes and fast reorder requirements.
• Identify and collaborate with suppliers adept in rapid turnaround and development-centric production.
• Ensure sourcing processes prioritize minimal lead times.
• Purchase engineering and lab equipment including test and measurement instruments like oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and thermal cameras.
• Acquire environmental test chambers, along with assembly tools, jigs, and fixtures.
• Conduct technical evaluations jointly with the R&D team to inform purchase decisions.
• Perform comparative vendor assessments considering specifications and costs.
• Coordinate equipment installation and commissioning activities.
• Oversee annual maintenance contracts (AMCs), calibration schedules, and service agreements.
• Issue requests for quotations (RFQs) with comprehensive technical specifications and testing criteria.
• Analyze supplier proposals with respect to performance, compliance, and total cost of ownership (TCO).
• Collaborate closely with R&D to finalize technology and commercial choices.
