Role Overview
Positioned in Bangalore, India, reporting to the VP of Home Sourcing, this senior leadership role is tasked with developing and expanding company-wide sourcing capabilities. The focus areas include supplier development, manufacturing excellence, and ensuring supply continuity. This leader will spearhead integration efforts across multiple functions and collaborate closely with packaging teams to align sourcing strategies with broader business goals.
Team Dynamics
The sourcing team collaborates cross-functionally with global merchants, product developers, compliance officers, and an extensive global manufacturing network. The team prioritizes developing supply chain strategies, implementing quality control frameworks, and enhancing operational efficiencies. The approach emphasizes reliable supplier relationships, leveraging advanced data analytics, and maintaining a low-cost mindset to build a resilient and innovative manufacturing ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end supplier lifecycle, including identification, onboarding, capacity evaluation, and expansion in global sourcing markets.
- Implement structured programs to build supplier capabilities, such as onboarding models, performance enhancement plans, and scaling measures.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to improve technical operations, workforce skills, and overall performance.
- Lead supplier assessments, factory inspections, and capacity improvement efforts to maintain compliance and sustainable expansion.
- Promote development of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) via targeted capability enhancement and export preparation initiatives.
- Forge and enhance strategic relationships with government agencies, including signing memoranda of understanding at state levels.
- Develop and grow the supplier ecosystem through third-party partnerships and ecosystem advancement activities.
- Foster inclusive sourcing by integrating emerging and small suppliers into global supply chains at scale.
- Enhance sourcing resilience through diversification, dual sourcing, and upstream capacity building.
- Create and apply risk management frameworks to guarantee continuity, stability, and flexibility in supply.
- Integrate supply assurance efforts into core sourcing strategies and business priorities.
- Monitor supply risks vigilantly and lead prompt actions to maintain uninterrupted product availability.
- Drive manufacturing improvements through Lean methodology, automation, and smart factory solutions.
- Establish factory KPIs, governance systems, and standard operating procedures to boost efficiency, quality, and execution reliability.
- Coach suppliers and factories in continuous improvement techniques and operational best practices.
- Lead initiatives focused on productivity enhancements, process optimization, and cost reduction in manufacturing.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and development for a high-achieving sourcing team within India.
- Cultivate an inclusive, collaborative, and results-oriented workplace culture.
- Plan organizational growth and succession to ensure continued advancement.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 15 years experience in sourcing, supplier development, manufacturing, or supply chain roles.
- At least 5 years managing global or multi-region teams.
- Preferred qualifications include an MBA or advanced degree.
- Experienced across global sourcing regions such as South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Americas.
- Proven expertise in MSME ecosystem growth initiatives.
- Strong background in Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or operational excellence frameworks.
