Senior AI Engineer - Chatbot & Agentic AI

About the Role

We invite an experienced Senior AI Engineer to join Snoonu's R&D department as the central technical lead for our conversational AI and autonomous agent strategies. This role encompasses the end-to-end architecture, development, and deployment of chatbot platforms utilizing AWS cloud and advanced large language models such as Claude. You will design comprehensive agentic AI workflows that automate standard operating procedures across customer service, order verification, and logistics operations. In addition to development, this position involves defining technical standards, mentoring engineering colleagues, and influencing strategic technology choices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain the full architecture for Snoonu's conversational AI and agentic automation platforms, including LLM selection, prompt engineering, cloud infrastructure, and system observability.
• Establish and enforce engineering standards, design conventions, and quality benchmarks through rigorous design reviews.
• Coach and support junior to mid-level engineers via code reviews and technical guidance, enhancing the team’s expertise in LLM engineering.
• Collaborate closely with the R&D Director to assess emerging AI technologies, shape technical roadmaps, and provide detailed trade-off analyses for decision-making.
• Lead development of multi-channel chatbots (web, WhatsApp, app) incorporating AWS Lex, Bedrock, API Gateway, and Claude or similar LLMs.
• Address complex dialogue management challenges such as multi-turn reasoning, context retention, intent ambiguity resolution, and fallback strategies.
• Build integrations between chatbots and backend services like order management, CRM, and logistics via secure, scalable RESTful and event-driven APIs.
• Conduct evaluation cycles benchmarking various model versions, prompt strategies, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) configurations focusing on quality and cost performance.
• Architect autonomous, multi-step Agentic AI workflows reflecting Snoonu's SOPs for critical business functions.
• Choose optimal orchestration tools (LangGraph, CrewAI, Bedrock Agents, Step Functions), considering reliability, debuggability, and scalability.
• Design robust cognitive memory, context management, tool extension, and safety guardrails ensuring predictable agent behavior in challenging scenarios.
• Implement human-in-the-loop checkpoints, confidence thresholds, and escalation protocols to support critical decision-making with augmented human oversight.
• Own the cloud infrastructure for AI services using AWS Lambda, ECS/Fargate, SQS/SNS, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch, and Bedrock, emphasizing scalability and cost efficiency.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines to manage prompt versions, model deployments, A/B testing, and automated evaluations before production release.
• Define monitoring strategies to track model drift, latency, cost, and failure rates across all AI services.
• Lead frontier AI model assessments benchmarking Claude, GPT, LLaMA, Mistral, and emerging open-weight systems for Snoonu’s needs.
• Innovate and prototype next-generation AI capabilities advancing from concepts to validated proofs-of-concept with clear go/no-go metrics.
• Produce thorough technical documentation, including architecture decisions, experimental findings, and prompt engineering manuals to support the team.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5 to 8 years of software engineering experience including at least 3 years specializing in LLM-based systems, conversational AI platforms, or autonomous agent architectures.
• A proven history of delivering full-stack production AI systems encompassing APIs, backend, monitoring, and operating at scale, supported by portfolio or case studies.
• Experience as a senior engineer or technical lead responsible for shaping technical direction, conducting architecture reviews, and mentoring teams.
• Advanced proficiency in Python backend development (preferably with FastAPI or Flask), crafting maintainable and production-grade code.
• A research-oriented mindset with passion for cutting-edge AI advances and rapid application of novel research to practical implementations.
• A strong sense of ownership with the ability to independently define problems, design solutions, deliver outcomes, and take accountability.
• Business-focused thinking with attention to ROI, operational impact, and end-user outcomes beyond technical aspects.

• In-depth hands-on experience with AI language models and frameworks including Anthropic Claude (claude-3, sonnet, opus), OpenAI GPT, open-weight models (LLaMA 3, Mistral, Phi), and tools like LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, AWS Bedrock Agents.
• Expertise in AWS services integral to AI system deployment: Amazon Bedrock, Amazon Lex v2, Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, SQS/SNS, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, VPC, and Secrets Manager with a focus on security and best practices.
• Strong skills in asynchronous Python OOP, REST API design, containerization with Docker, and familiarity with orchestration (ECS/EKS) plus software development CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
