Job Overview
Join Walmart Canada as a Self-Checkout Attendant and enhance your expertise in customer service and retail operations. This role involves assisting customers while they use the self-checkout area, ensuring a smooth, friendly, and efficient checkout experience in a vibrant retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the self-checkout zone by keeping it clean, organized, and free from clutter, spills, or any obstacles.
- Support Walmart’s initiatives by promoting company programs such as credit card services, product protection plans, and charitable causes when appropriate.
- Assist customers at the self-checkout area, guiding them to use the systems confidently and swiftly, managing transactions, intervening courteously when issues arise, and escalating cash or technical problems to the Customer Service Manager.
- Respond promptly and correctly to EAS (Electronic Article Surveillance) alarms and complete the required 'Failure to Deactivate' documentation accurately.
- Ensure Scan & Go scanners are always returned to their assigned storage locations after use.
- Adapt to various shift schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet the store’s operational demands.
Challenges Associated with the Role
- Manage a high volume of tasks efficiently in a fast-moving environment, ensuring accuracy and timeliness even during overnight shifts.
- Handle physical demands such as standing for long durations, bending, and lifting items up to 20 lbs regularly, with occasional lifts up to 50 lbs.
- Perform repetitive duties such as stocking and organizing products with keen attention to detail, maintaining store standards consistently.

Compensation
The starting hourly wage for this position is $15.50.
