Location Overview
Located on Mauritius' east coast at the edge of a pristine lagoon, the resort offers a serene getaway framed by turquoise waters ideal for water sports and lush natural beauty. Opened in October 2008, the property includes 90 one-bedroom villas, a Presidential Suite, 45 multi-bedroom residential villas, five dining establishments plus an off-property beach bar and restaurant, an award-winning over-water Spa, tennis courts, fitness center, and access to two championship golf courses designed by Ernie Els and Bernhard Langer.
Role Purpose
The Security Guard role involves implementing all safety and security protocols to ensure the protection of guests, staff, and hotel property while responding effectively during emergency incidents.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Carry out assigned duties promptly and competently under supervision.
- Uphold high standards and foster a collaborative, team-oriented work environment serving as an exemplary role model.
- Attend all planned training programs to enhance job performance.
- Interact warmly and enthusiastically with guests and coworkers, consistently reflecting the Golden Rule.
- Comply with the hotel's code of conduct, grooming, and hygiene policies.
- Take proactive, hands-on approaches to assist colleagues during busy periods.
- Participate actively in departmental briefings and meetings.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the workplace while promoting safety standards.
- Conduct regular patrols across public zones, parking areas, and staff-only spaces to deter unauthorized access and undesirable activities.
- Understand and operate emergency lifesaving equipment, responding appropriately to emergencies.
- Monitor CCTV footage for irregularities during security desk shifts and report concerns to superiors.
- Remain vigilant to identify and address potential safety and security risks.
- Support day-to-day security department activities as needed.
- Perform routine inspection of employee and contractor baggage upon exit from premises.
- Maintain familiarity with fire alarm systems, alert relevant departments when alarms activate, and log incidents accurately.
- Control access at the main gate, notify management staff, and maintain proper records.
- Inspect villas during patrol shifts both day and night for security assurance.
- Manage security desk equipment, including badges, registers, keys, radios, and torches, ensuring proper upkeep.
- Record and safeguard all lost and found items responsibly.
- Promptly report all safety or security incidents to management.
- Assist during visits from state officials, dignitaries, and government delegations.
- Lock office doors after regular business hours and ensure emergency exits are unobstructed.
- Document significant events and communicate relevant information to management.
- Be alert to suspicious activity around guest areas and take preventive actions against fire, accidents, gas leaks, or bomb threats.
- Participate actively in emergency evacuation drills and fire safety exercises.
- Follow departmental policies and procedures thoroughly and apply them as required.
- Undertake additional related duties as assigned by resort management.
Candidate Requirements
- Completion of secondary education is mandatory.
- A minimum of one year experience in a related security role, preferably within the hospitality industry.
- Proficient in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Certified training in Fire Fighting, First Aid, and CPR.
- Possess a clean morality certificate.
- Physical fitness to perform duties effectively.
- Compliance with hotel policies including grooming, confidentiality, anti-harassment, electronic systems, and ethical business conduct.
