Job Overview

The Screener is tasked with ensuring the secure and efficient examination of hold baggage at the airport. This position involves operating screening technology, identifying potential threats or prohibited items, adhering to regulatory compliance, maintaining accurate records, and working closely with other security and airport personnel to uphold safety standards.

Primary Responsibilities

• Attend and successfully complete all mandatory regulatory training sessions.
• Use X-Baggage Inspection System (X-BIS) equipment to analyze images and detect dangerous goods, prohibited articles, weapons, or ammunition in checked luggage, following Avsec guidelines, circulars, and SOPs.
• Conduct physical and explosive trace detection (ETD) inspections for suspect baggage flagged during X-ray screening.
• Maintain strong proficiency in Threat Image Projection (TIP) scoring to enhance image interpretation skills.
• Adhere strictly to BCAS and DGCA aviation security directives during baggage screening procedures.
• Document and record all screening findings and activities to comply with audit and inspection standards.
• Perform regular pre-operational checks on security devices including X-BIS, ETD, CT-EDS to ensure operational readiness, and report any equipment faults promptly.
• Collaborate effectively with CISF, airline staff, and other stakeholders during physical inspections and in addressing suspicious baggage.
• Keep supervisors informed about operational status and any issues requiring attention.
• Manage time efficiently to complete screening within designated timeframes without compromising security thoroughness.
• Maintain professionalism, discipline, and uphold organizational behavioral standards at all times.

Key Internal and External Stakeholders

Internal collaboration includes security officers, audit and compliance leads, terminal operations, IT, HR, and other airport departments. External interaction spans TSA, airport authorities, law enforcement, airline operators, regulatory bodies, and service providers.

Qualifications and Physical Requirements

• Educational: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Certifications: TSA certification mandatory; ideally cleared AVSEC basic course by BCAS and certifications related to standalone or inline screening as well as DGCA’s Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) CAT 12.
• NCC 'C' or 'B' certificate holders will be favored.
• Experience: Open to freshers or candidates with 1-2 years in security screening or related airport roles with equipment operation and security protocols knowledge.
• Physical standards: Visual acuity of 20/60 or better (with/without corrective lenses), good color perception, hearing loss not exceeding 30 dB below 2000 Hz, clear speech for effective communication, mobility free of significant impairments, and the ability to sense odors.
• Appearance and demeanour: Must maintain high standards of civility, professional deportment, grooming, sobriety, and extend courteous behavior to the public.
