Overview

The School of Creative & Digital Arts at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch invites applications for a full-time School Administrator position within the Digital Screen Department at the Dovedale Campus. The role supports the Bachelor of Digital Screen (Honours) program, which offers majors such as Animation, Game Arts, Game Development, Cinematic Arts, Screenwriting, and Screen Sound. This role involves providing broad administrative support to faculty and students in a busy academic environment with access to cutting-edge facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver efficient and timely administrative services to faculty and students of the Digital Screen Department.
  • Support academic staff with course-related functions including examinations and scheduling.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with university policies on finance and human resources tasks.
  • Assist in coordinating events, seminars, film screenings, and managing special guest visits and location hires associated with Creative Arts activities.
  • Organize and maintain digital and physical filing systems to ensure efficient information retrieval.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience providing comprehensive administrative support in a dynamic organization.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and processes concurrently.
  • Experience with event coordination or managing creative projects, supporting planning and successful execution.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and digital workflow management tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain orderly electronic and paper filing systems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team with a proactive approach.
  • Close attention to detail ensuring accuracy across diverse administrative responsibilities.
  • Previous experience in an education setting is preferred but not essential.

Additional Information

  • Position offers five weeks annual leave plus an additional five university holidays.
  • Generous employer superannuation contribution of up to 6.75%.
  • Flexible work arrangements considered; typically 5 hours per week, with potential for 30 hours per week for the right candidate.
  • Permanent full-time onsite role based in Christchurch.
  • This position requires candidates to be New Zealand or Australian citizens or permanent residents.
