Overview
The School of Applied Sciences at the University of Brighton invites applications for a part-time Research Support Assistant role based at the Moulsecoomb campus in Brighton. The successful candidate will contribute to a Canadian Institute of Health Research funded project by conducting sample preparation and proteomics analysis using nLC-MS technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, process, and store biological samples for nLC-MS (nanoliquid chromatography-mass spectrometry) analysis.
- Conduct nLC-MS analyses to support the research project.
- Compile detailed reports on the analytical results obtained.
- Maintain excellent laboratory housekeeping standards to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
- Manage procurement of chemicals and laboratory supplies needed for ongoing research activities.
Candidate Profile
- Background in biomedical science or a related discipline, ideally with experience in analytical scientific techniques.
- Hands-on experience working in a laboratory setting with proficient bench skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Computer competency, preferably familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Self-driven with the ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
Position Details
This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year with potential for flexibility regarding contract length and weekly hours, depending on mutual agreement and project requirements. The working arrangement mandates presence on campus due to the technical nature of duties.
