Job description
Position Overview
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore's College of Design and Engineering invites applications for Research Fellow positions focusing on transport planning. The successful candidates will collaborate closely with principal and co-principal investigators to develop destination choice models that support future land use and transport system planning through data-driven techniques.
Key Duties
- Gather and analyze transport-related data pertinent to research objectives.
- Develop tour-based destination choice models tailored to evolving urban and transport dynamics.
- Integrate the developed destination choice models within established tour-based transport simulation frameworks.
- Lead research initiatives with secured funding, guide research scholars, and contribute to proposal writing and research documentation.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- PhD in transportation engineering, operations research, computer engineering/science, or an affiliated field completed or to be completed by December 2024.
- Advanced expertise in discrete choice modelling, statistical analysis, traffic simulation, and optimization methods.
- Proficiency in machine learning techniques applicable to transport data and models.
- Experience with transport planning tools such as EMME or PTV Visum.
- Programming skills in at least one language such as Python, Java, or C++.
- Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
- Willingness to engage as a fixed-term contract employee.
