About the Role
We are seeking a resourceful and well-organized Publicity Specialist to join our energetic publicity team. This position will support leading commercial romance imprints—Bloom Books and Casablanca—with occasional involvement in Cosmo Reads. The successful candidate will spearhead publicity campaigns aimed at generating widespread national recognition, boosting sales, and enhancing the profile of some of the most popular authors and titles in the current market.
This role offers flexibility for a hybrid schedule at our Naperville, IL or New York, NY offices or the option to work remotely 100% from certain states including Illinois, Arizona, Connecticut, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin. The job requires some travel, including periodic visits to the home office in Naperville, IL.
This is a salaried exempt role with annual compensation ranging from $65,000 to $70,000. Starting salary is determined through an evaluation of relevant job factors such as geography, market trends, experience, training, and education to ensure a fair and competitive offer aligned with both company standards and candidate qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate publicity initiatives for new book releases across the Bloom Books and Casablanca imprints.
- Pitch and secure placements in national media outlets, trade reviews, podcasts, and other promotional channels.
- Design and execute influencer campaigns to heighten awareness and generate pre-publication buzz.
- Organize author tours, book launch events, and conference participations in collaboration with internal teams and retail partners.
- Collaborate with sales and digital marketing divisions to develop impactful branding campaigns.
- Prepare engaging press kits, Q&A materials, and other media resources for book launches.
- Work closely with authors on branding strategies, visibility for backlist titles, and long-term publicity planning.
- Support imprint-specific social media strategies and seasonal promotional activities.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of four years of experience in publicity within the publishing industry.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in publicity, communications, or related fields.
- Track record of successfully pitching and securing national media coverage.
- In-depth understanding of the media landscape, book influencers, and emerging promotional platforms.
- Strong collaboration skills, innovative thinking, and excellent project management capabilities.
- Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Canva.
