Project Engineer - Infrastructure Construction Works

Overview

The Project Engineer specializing in Infrastructure Construction is tasked with overseeing the planning, coordination, supervision, and execution of infrastructure projects. The goal is to ensure projects are completed safely, punctually, within budget, while fully meeting contract specifications, quality benchmarks, and local regulatory standards. This position manages site operations and liaises with consultants, subcontractors, and stakeholders, providing technical expertise throughout the project lifespan.

Key Responsibilities

• Organize and oversee daily infrastructure construction operations.
• Guarantee all construction activities align with approved drawings, specifications, and contractual obligations.
• Collaborate closely with consultants, clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to facilitate seamless project execution.
• Review and assess engineering and shop drawings, method statements, and material submissions.
• Track project progress, identify potential risks, and deploy corrective strategies to maintain deadlines.
• Develop work schedules, generate progress updates, and maintain detailed project records.
• Manage procurement processes ensuring materials arrive on site timely.
• Lead site engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and construction workforce.
• Ensure adherence to Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) protocols.
• Conduct site inspections and resolve technical challenges arising during construction.
• Participate in coordination meetings involving clients, consultants, and regulatory bodies.
• Oversee project financials, assist with cost control measures, and manage variations.
• Support testing, commissioning, snagging activities and facilitate smooth project handover.
• Ensure full compliance with UAE authority regulations and permitting requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is mandatory.
• Possession of PMP certification is considered advantageous.
• Membership in a recognized professional engineering institution is preferred.
• 5 to 10 years' experience managing infrastructure construction projects.
• Prior experience within the UAE or GCC regions is highly valuable.
• Hands-on experience with roads, utilities, drainage, sewerage, water networks, stormwater management, and overall infrastructure works.
• Proven track record collaborating with main contractors on large-scale infrastructure ventures.

Technical Expertise

• Deep understanding of infrastructure construction techniques and best practices.
• Strong proficiency in project planning, scheduling, and construction site management.
• Competent in software tools including AutoCAD, Civil 3D (preferred), Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office suite.
• Familiarity with FIDIC contract frameworks is an advantage.
• Working knowledge of UAE authority standards such as Dubai Municipality, RTA, DEWA, ADQCC, DMT, among others.
