Role Summary

The Procurement Specialist will handle the sourcing, buying, and ongoing management of materials, equipment, and services needed to keep manufacturing and business operations running smoothly. The position works with internal teams, suppliers, and other stakeholders to make sure deliveries are on time, costs stay competitive, quality expectations are met, and supply remains uninterrupted, all while following company procurement standards and policies.

Core Duties

  • Identify and purchase indirect materials, equipment, and services that support day-to-day business needs.
  • Request, compare, and assess supplier quotes, then negotiate on price, contract terms, and delivery timing.
  • Prepare, send, and administer purchase orders with attention to accuracy and prompt completion.
  • Track supplier performance, on-time delivery, and quality results.
  • Build productive supplier partnerships that support long-term business goals.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Planning, Warehouse, Finance, and Quality teams to align with production schedules and operational requirements.
  • Address supplier-related problems involving pricing, shortages, quality issues, and late shipments.
  • Look for savings opportunities, supplier rationalization, and ways to improve procurement processes.
  • Review purchasing data, spend patterns, and inventory status to support sourcing decisions.

  • Keep procurement files, supplier records, and purchasing reports accurate and updated in ERP systems.
  • Assist with new product launches by sourcing materials and qualifying vendors when required.
  • Take part in supplier assessments, business reviews, and ongoing improvement efforts.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline is required.
  • Three to five years of experience in procurement, purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain work within a manufacturing setting.
  • Hands-on experience negotiating supplier pricing, contracts, and delivery commitments.
  • Good working knowledge of procurement workflows and supplier relationship management.
  • Experience with ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Epicor, or comparable systems.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Solid analytical ability, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background supporting electronics, automotive, semiconductor, or manufacturing businesses is an advantage.
  • Exposure to strategic sourcing methods and supplier performance management is preferred.
