Job Summary
We are looking for a meticulous and analytical Procurement Specialist to manage and support our purchasing operations. This role entails acquiring machinery, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and services essential for our operations, along with raw and semi-finished materials required for manufacturing. The ideal candidate must excel in negotiation, possess a robust understanding of supply chain management, and make strategic purchasing decisions to enhance cost-effectiveness and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Create purchase orders, solicit competitive bids, and review requisitions.
- Identify and purchase high-quality materials at the best prices.
- Assess suppliers on cost, quality, dependability, and service standards.
- Negotiate and oversee contracts with vendors and suppliers.
- Evaluate supplier performance and ensure adherence to contracts.
- Track shipments and resolve any delivery or quality issues.
- Maintain precise records of purchases, inventory, and supplier databases.
- Collaborate with internal departments to understand and fulfill purchasing needs.
- Develop, implement, and follow procurement policies and procedures.
- Monitor inventory to anticipate supply requirements.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Prior relevant experience or moderate-term on-the-job training is advantageous.
- Strong grasp of procurement, supply chain, and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledgeable in business operations, resource allocation, and vendor relations.
- Familiar with transportation and logistics methods.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience with ERP software such as Deltek Costpoint or Microsoft Dynamics is beneficial.
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong oral and written communication capabilities.
