About the role

This newly created Payroll Coordinator position is focused on helping deliver an accurate, timely, and dependable payroll experience across New Zealand and Australia. You will use your payroll knowledge and improvement mindset to support employees and leaders, strengthen payroll processes, and contribute to a positive employee experience.

Key outcomes for the role

  • Run employee and director payroll accurately and on schedule so people receive a reliable pay experience.
  • Keep employee records and payroll data accurate and compliant.
  • Provide prompt, clear, and dependable support for payroll and people-related queries from employees and leaders.
  • Complete payroll reconciliations, reporting, and audit tasks with care, quality, and compliance in mind.
  • Manage employee lifecycle administration accurately from onboarding through to offboarding.
  • Identify and implement improvements to payroll processes, controls, and ways of working.

What you’ll need

The ideal candidate is an experienced payroll coordinator who is comfortable working in a busy environment, focused on service, and always looking for better ways to work.

  • At least 2 years of experience supporting and delivering end-to-end payroll in a fast-moving environment.
  • Working knowledge of New Zealand payroll legislation and compliance requirements; Australian payroll exposure is helpful but not mandatory.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, and organisation, with the capacity to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Experience using payroll, HR, and reporting systems.
  • High integrity and discretion when dealing with confidential employee information.
  • Clear communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work well across teams and stakeholders.
  • A proactive continuous-improvement approach to enhancing processes and delivery.
  • NZPPA certification or membership of the Australian Payroll Association is preferred.
