Payments Operations Specialist

About the Role

This position is offered through a partner company based in the United States, focusing on supporting critical payments operations in a dynamic digital environment. Key areas of focus include reviewing payments, verifying customers, managing reconciliations, supporting compliance, and overseeing operational risk.

Key Responsibilities

• Examine and validate customer payment transactions, including verifying customer identities.
• Assist with payment workflows such as reviewing ACH/NACHA files, tracking transactions, and reconciling payments.
• Investigate any payment anomalies, discrepancies, refund requests, disputes, chargebacks, and related transactional issues.
• Conduct root cause analyses to identify operational challenges and recommend solutions.
• Consistently enforce payment policies, procedures, and operational controls across payment processes.
• Support activities related to fraud prevention, sanctions screening, compliance evaluations, and risk management.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve payment-related matters and aid business goals.
• Engage with customers as needed to assist payment verification and authorization.
• Identify and implement opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, decrease risks, and strengthen controls.
• Maintain detailed and accurate documentation while handling sensitive financial data responsibly.
• Provide support for critical payment processing tasks, demonstrating flexibility when required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in Payments Operations, Financial Services Operations, Payment Processing, Risk Operations, Fraud Prevention, Compliance, KYC, Trust & Safety, or related operational areas.
• Proven experience in investigating payment issues, transaction reviews, and reconciliation processes.
• Knowledgeable in ACH/NACHA operations, payment workflows, customer verification, and compliance standards.
• Experience with fraud prevention, disputes management, refunds handling, transaction monitoring, and operational control implementation.
• Strong analytical reasoning, problem-solving capabilities, and sound decision-making skills.
• Able to thrive in a fast-moving, high-volume operational context.
• Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
• Capability to manage confidential information with discretion.
• Organizational proficiency to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work autonomously alongside effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Experience within fintech, banking, marketplaces, or financial services sectors is advantageous.
