Overview
BrookLodge & Macreddin Village in Aughrim, County Wicklow, Ireland, is seeking a talented Pastry Chef to join their kitchen team. Reporting to the Head Chef, this role involves creating top-quality desserts, pastries, and baked products that meet the highest standards of consistency, creativity, and presentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and display a wide range of premium desserts and pastries aligning with the establishment's quality requirements.
- Participate in developing the menu, including seasonal selections and special event items.
- Maintain uniformity in flavor, texture, and appearance of all pastry offerings.
- Oversee daily pastry production, ensuring adherence to recipes, portion sizes, and quality control.
- Keep track of inventory, manage ordering of supplies, and implement proper stock rotation to reduce waste.
- Ensure a tidy, organized workplace while safely operating kitchen equipment at all times.
- Comply fully with food safety and hygiene regulations following HACCP standards.
- Modify recipes as needed to accommodate dietary restrictions and customer preferences.
- Keep abreast of current industry trends and incorporate fresh methods and ideas into the pastry program.
- Assist the kitchen team with other tasks as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrable past experience as a Pastry Chef within restaurants, hotels, or bakeries.
- Comprehensive understanding of pastry arts and baking principles.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Creativity combined with enthusiasm for innovative pastry techniques.
- Familiarity with food safety laws and adherence to best practices.
- Ability to work productively in a high-pressure environment managing multiple responsibilities.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
