Job Overview
Join McCain Foods as a Processing Operator at the Timaru facility, where you'll be entrusted with full responsibility over your assigned production area. This role is essential in converting locally grown potatoes into our famous chips and fries. Working within our continuous 24/7 production environment, your independence and proactive attitude ensure the delivery of our high-quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate and manage your designated production zone efficiently, ensuring results and quality standards are maintained.
- Set up and run computerized machinery through touchscreen controls for smooth production stages.
- Follow a fixed roster consisting of two day shifts (7am–7pm), two night shifts (7pm–7am), then four rest days.
- Be physically active during shifts involving extended periods of standing and walking.
- Complete required data entry and documentation to support quality assurance and administrative needs.
- Perform regular cleaning and sanitation to uphold food safety and plant hygiene standards.
- Detect and resolve product or machinery faults promptly, adapting to changes in the production environment.
- Work primarily independently while collaborating effectively with a small team and ensuring smooth handovers between shifts.
Requirements
- Mental agility to quickly learn, troubleshoot, and adjust within a dynamic production setting.
- Basic computer literacy, including handling touchscreen-operated equipment and routine data input.
- Capability to work autonomously with responsible zone ownership and team communication.
- Physical fitness to manage a full 12-hour shift that involves substantial standing and walking.
- A proactive mindset and eagerness to learn, supported by comprehensive on-the-job training.
- Dedication to health, safety, and food quality protocols.
- Experience in food manufacturing or shift-based roles is advantageous but not compulsory.
- Legal authorization to work in New Zealand (current valid work visa required; sponsorship not offered).
- Willingness to undergo medical examinations, drug tests, and reference verification.
