Role overview

As an Operator Estates within the Site Services team, you will help keep the site safe, functional, and well maintained. This is a practical and varied position covering buildings, grounds, and key site services, with scope to build your experience while supporting a collaborative and high-performing team.

Core duties

A key part of the job is looking after the site’s non-active drainage network and carrying out winter gritting. You will also help maintain essential infrastructure through excavation work and drainage upkeep, including drains and septic tanks.

• Carry out road sweeping, snow clearance, and gritting during winter conditions.
• Support general maintenance tasks such as small repairs, pest control, and refuelling emergency generators.
• Complete inspections and checks, including foreshore reviews, fencing inspections, outfall sampling, and underground service scanning.
• Undertake site signage surveys, replace street furniture and signs where needed, and take on related management duties.

What the role requires

You should be dependable, safety minded, and comfortable working on construction or site-based tasks. The role suits someone who can work on their own initiative as well as contribute effectively to a large team, with flexibility to adapt to seasonal winter shift work.

• Ability to read and write at a basic level, with sound numeracy skills and a proactive approach.
• A full UK driving licence is required; HGV and construction plant licences, especially 360 excavator experience, would be an advantage.
• Previous construction site experience and the ability to work well in a team environment.
• Willingness to work flexible seasonal shifts and demonstrate strong safety awareness and leadership potential.
• Completion of the post-specific capability analysis assessment.
