Role overview
This contract position is focused on improving data quality within an Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) environment. The role is designed for someone who pays close attention to detail and can drive practical improvements in how trading data is handled across the business.
You will serve as the link between Front Desk data entry and the teams that rely on that information downstream, helping ensure reliable data is available for Risk, Settlement, and Accounting purposes. The position calls for someone who can strengthen data controls, resolve issues before they spread, and help teams trust the data used for reporting and decision-making.
This opportunity suits a proactive professional who enjoys solving problems, working with multiple stakeholders, and building better data governance practices in a fast-moving trading setting.
Key responsibilities
- Track and review the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of information captured in ETRM systems.
- Guide Front Desk users on correct data entry practices and practical standards.
- Work with Risk, Settlement, and Accounting teams to support data review activities and protect downstream data integrity.
- Define and monitor data quality indicators while strengthening control processes over time.
- Look into repeated data issues reported by stakeholders and identify why they keep happening.
- Carry out root cause analysis to uncover sources such as manual mistakes, process gaps, or system integration problems.
- Recommend and help implement long-term fixes that reduce repeat issues.
- Coordinate with business and technology teams to solve data-related problems.
- Create, update, and improve clear documentation covering ETRM data standards by role.
- Prepare easy-to-use quick reference materials that support accurate and consistent data entry.
- Keep documentation aligned with current workflows and changing business needs.
- Plan and conduct focused training for Front Desk users and other relevant stakeholders.
- Explain how poor data quality can affect risk reporting, settlement accuracy, and financial accounting.
- Promote accountability and ownership of data across teams by acting as a dependable advisor.
Requirements
- 3 to 5 years of experience in trade support, ETRM operations, internal control, risk control, or finance.
- Good understanding of the trade lifecycle and the effect of data quality on Risk, Settlement, Accounting, and reporting processes.
- Working knowledge of data governance methods, issue tracking, and escalation workflows.
- Strong analytical ability and capability to identify root causes effectively.
- Comfortable working with stakeholders across Front Desk and control functions.
- Quick to learn and able to adapt in a changing environment.
- Very detail-oriented with a strong emphasis on accuracy and control.
- Hands-on, proactive, and focused on practical solutions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
