Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a diligent OHSE Analyst to oversee health, safety, and environmental compliance within our storage, distribution, and logistics operations. This role involves thorough investigation of incidents, coordination of safety programs, and ensuring adherence to standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out investigations into incidents, accidents, near misses, and hazardous conditions by conducting root cause analysis, applying corrective actions, and maintaining comprehensive documentation.
- Ensure adherence to Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental laws, corporate policies, and customer mandates.
- Develop, analyze, and present Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) key performance indicators such as accident frequencies, safety observations, inspections, training effectiveness, and management compliance.
- Organize and lead training sessions on OHSE topics including chemical safety, emergency procedures, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Develop and sustain procedures and control measures to guarantee a safe and healthy workplace in warehouse and distribution settings.
- Conduct routine occupational, environmental, and operational risk evaluations and inspections, recommending preventive and corrective measures to reduce hazards.
- Coordinate the implementation and upkeep of management systems following ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards alongside corporate norms.
- Manage internal, external, and customer audit processes, ensuring findings are addressed promptly with effective action plans.
- Maintain up-to-date Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all stored products in line with Globally Harmonized System (GHS) regulations.
- Oversee safe chemical storage practices including segregation, compatibility checks, labeling, and containment controls.
- Lead responses to chemical spills, environmental incidents, and emergencies, ensuring response equipment is accessible and properly utilized.
- Monitor fire protection systems, emergency equipment, evacuation routes, and emergency preparedness plans.
- Ensure all personnel including employees, visitors, contractors, and transporters comply with safety standards and correctly use PPE.
- Manage inventory and availability of PPE, first aid supplies, and emergency response equipment.
- Conduct induction and training programs on EHS practices for new hires, contractors, and service providers.
- Drive sustainability initiatives including EcoVadis assessments, SMETA compliance, waste reduction, recycling programs, and other environmental objectives.
- Oversee compliance and management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste with regards to legal and environmental regulations.
- Promote continuous improvements in safety culture, environmental practices, housekeeping (5S), and preventive safety measures.
- Assist in investigating customer safety, health, and environmental complaints, facilitating corrective actions as needed.
- Maintain current records, risk assessments, procedures, and documentation related to EHS management systems.
- Identify and follow up on deviations, non-conformities, and opportunities to improve Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental systems.
Qualifications and Experience
- Background in Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related disciplines.
- Certification as an Internal Auditor for ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
- Preferably 1 to 2 years of experience in similar health, safety, or environmental roles.
- Possess strong analytical abilities.
- Experience working in warehouse or logistics environments preferred.
- Familiarity with handling chemical products and hazardous materials.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office at an intermediate level.
- Training or expertise in fire extinguisher use.
- Knowledge of environmental management principles and regulations.
