Overview

The Environment Agency is seeking a motivated Advisor to join the national Nutrients and Nature Recovery team, tackling nutrient pollution challenges impacting water quality. This role offers an opportunity to support a sustainable nutrient management system that values nutrients correctly to improve environmental outcomes and promote sustainable growth.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Lead engagement with Area Integrated Environment Planning Specialists to support the implementation of Diffuse Water Pollution Plan actions.
  • Coordinate activities, share best practices, and facilitate the evolution of nutrient pollution plans to adapt to emerging challenges.
  • Develop and deliver a nutrients engagement framework to foster collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee contracts and projects that foster innovative nutrient management techniques.
  • Monitor and report progress on the delivery of nutrient management programs.
  • Facilitate a national community of practice to ensure coordinated implementation of Diffuse Water Pollution Plans and promote knowledge-sharing across the organization.

Team Environment

You will be part of a small, inclusive, and supportive Nutrients and Nature Recovery team within the Team Water division. The team provides strategic leadership on nutrient-related issues, including diffuse water pollution plans and nutrient neutrality policies. Team meetings occur quarterly in person, fostering a culture where every member is valued.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Basic understanding of sectors involved in nutrient management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Experience collaborating across multiple teams and sharing technical knowledge.
  • Background in project and/or program management.
  • Experience managing contracts and familiarity with procurement systems.
  • Capability to pragmatically navigate complex situations to achieve beneficial outcomes.
  • A commitment to working effectively with people of various backgrounds and cultures while promoting diversity considerations in work processes.

The position includes development opportunities with appropriate training provided. The role is based either at an EA office or remotely within the UK, reflecting its national scope.
