Overview
Launch your engineering career by engaging in meaningful projects from the start. This role focuses on electrical services, which encompasses power and lighting systems within buildings - including mains power, switchboards, lighting schemes, emergency power setups, earthing, and power quality.
Role Description
As a member of the electrical team, you'll contribute to the design of safe, efficient power and lighting systems. This involves planning cable routes and infrastructure, determining switchboard and backup power sizes, integrating solar photovoltaic systems, and collaborating closely with ICT pathway design. You'll transform client requirements into clear, executable designs.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute electrical designs for power, lighting, and infrastructure that adhere to relevant codes and client needs
- Assist in planning cable routing, earthing systems, switchboard sizing, backup power, and solar PV integration
- Create models and reports covering power studies, lighting, energy evaluations, and 3D layout designs
- Collaborate with architects and multi-disciplinary engineers to develop practical construction solutions
- Participate in site visits to observe installation, testing, and commissioning of designs
- Support client meetings by gathering requirements and presenting clear, feasible options
- Improve project briefs by recommending safer, simpler, and more sustainable outcomes

- Engage in onsite and online workshops, technical training sessions, and knowledge-sharing forums

Graduate Program Details
This two-year program is designed to cultivate your consulting and technical expertise. You'll gain experience working with clients, understanding project progression from initial design to completion, and growing your confidence as a reliable advisor. The program includes social events, networking opportunities, and disciplinary rotations to enhance your skill set.
Required Qualifications and Eligibility
- Near completion or recent graduation in electrical engineering
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Inquisitive approach and effective problem-solving skills
- Availability to commence work in 2027
- Full legal right to work in New Zealand for the program's duration
Preferred Experience and Skills
- Internship or project involvement in building services, power systems, or lighting design
- Familiarity with Australian Standards and the National Construction Code (NCC)
- Experience with design or modelling software related to power, lighting, energy, or 3D drafting
- Interest in sustainability certifications such as Green Star and NABERS
- Participation in Engineers Without Borders or student engineering societies
