Position Overview
We are inviting applications from passionate music educators to join St Andrew's Cathedral School's renowned secondary school music program in a permanent part-time role (0.6 full-time equivalent) spanning three days per week, beginning Term 1 of 2027.
About St Andrew's Cathedral School
Established in 1885 to provide choristers with exceptional education and music training, the school continues to place music at its core. The music program is robust, inclusive, and known for high student involvement, strong elective enrolment, flourishing ensembles, comprehensive individual tuition, scholarship and talent development, major musical productions, international tours, and partnerships with top music institutions. Students of all skill levels are encouraged to participate and excel.
Role Responsibilities
The successful candidate will primarily teach Music to students in Years 7 to 12 within a dynamic academic environment that promotes both excellence and engagement. Opportunities may also arise for conducting ensembles and other extracurricular music activities, depending on experience and department needs.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrated recent experience teaching Music to Years 7-12.
- Proficient advanced practical skills in at least one musical instrument.
- Strong classroom management abilities.
- Genuine enthusiasm for delivering quality music education that fosters lifelong appreciation among diverse learners.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building positive relationships and contributing constructively within a collaborative and high-performing team.
- Alignment with and commitment to the school's Christian mission, values, and ethos.
Previous teaching experience with the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) and training in Kodály secondary pedagogy is highly valued.
