Company Overview
The hiring firm is a U.S.-based investor in renewable energy, with a focus on solar and battery storage. Its portfolio includes both operating assets and projects still in earlier stages, and it works with developers to upgrade infrastructure and support the clean energy transition.
Role Summary
This position is responsible for driving key parts of acquisition evaluation, including coordinating due diligence, building financial analyses, and forming early-stage investment views for purchase opportunities. The role also supports project financing work and contributes to broader development-related initiatives across the portfolio. It requires someone who can manage complex, detail-heavy work independently while still partnering with senior colleagues for direction and review.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess solar and storage assets for possible acquisition by creating detailed financial models, weighing risks and potential returns, and preparing investment recommendations for internal stakeholders alongside cross-functional partners.
- Work within small, fast-moving deal teams on acquisition opportunities by joining seller conversations, maintaining financial models, reviewing diligence findings, coordinating outside advisors, and assembling approval materials.
- Support the design and completion of portfolio financing transactions, including debt and tax equity, through model work, investor materials, diligence support, and documentation assistance.
- Partner with the development group to evaluate projects at different stages, produce detailed financial analyses, identify major issues, and present opportunities for internal consideration.
- Act as a coordination point for internally originated projects by working with project leads, updating portfolio models, managing diligence processes, engaging third-party partners, and preparing investment materials.
- Help with other company priorities and special projects as needed.
Required Background
- Minimum of four years of experience in renewable energy investing, acquisitions, or project finance.
- Strong experience creating and improving advanced Excel models, including financial forecasts and valuation work.
- Ability to help run or directly manage complex transactions involving multiple stakeholders, advisors, and parallel workstreams.
- Experience performing detailed asset diligence and reviewing financial models for accuracy in assumptions and inputs.
- Ability to prepare concise investment write-ups, presentations, and supporting documents for both internal and external audiences.
- Exposure to solar, battery storage, or adjacent clean energy sectors is preferred.
- Strong analytical judgment, meticulous attention to detail, and effective problem-solving skills.
- Self-driven approach with the ability to take initiative and move work from idea stage through execution.
- Good understanding of clean energy project development, financing structures, and market conditions.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills with the ability to work across teams, leadership, and outside partners.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
- Must be able to work in the office two days per week.
Eligibility
This role is open to candidates who can legally work in the United States without sponsorship and can work onsite in the office two days each week.
