Job description
About the Role
Located in Krishnapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, this position reports directly to the Plant Head and is responsible for leading the occupational health and safety efforts at the facility. The Safety Manager champions workplace safety awareness, oversees completion of health and safety actions including risk assessments and training, and shares best practices within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure full compliance with legal and company health and safety requirements and maintain detailed compliance records.
- Keep updated on changes in statutory regulations impacting health and safety practices.
- Serve as the primary contact for plant-related health and safety matters, guiding leadership and staff on regulations, inspections, and compliance procedures.
- Advise plant leadership on planning and maintaining safe work environments, including risk assessment management and implementation of company occupational health and safety procedures.
- Organize and lead monthly Safety Steering Committee meetings to promote continuous safety improvement.
- Manage risk registers, ensure adequate staffing of safety roles such as first aiders and fire wardens, and ensure safe staff relocations through risk assessments.
- Oversee contractor safety management for both plant operations and project contractors, including induction, access control, and construction safety systems.
- Manage modifications and projects via change management systems with safety audits performed before and after changes.
- Set standards and guidance for personal protective equipment (PPE) management and maintain fire and emergency preparedness including drills.
- Conduct regular site safety audits, ensure employee inductions align with safety procedures, and coordinate staff training schedules and compliance monitoring.
- Develop effective communication mediums such as health and safety boards to keep staff informed on relevant topics.
Knowledge, Skills, and Behavior
- Strong understanding of statutory compliance requirements and industrial safety protocols.
- Well-organized with excellent coordination and multi-tasking capabilities.

- Ability to benchmark and cross-reference standards for continuous improvements.
- Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office applications.

Education and Experience Requirements
- B.Tech or M.Tech degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, complemented by a diploma in Industrial Safety from a recognized institute.
- 15 to 20 years of experience in the FMCG sector, preferably in related industrial operations.
