We value our team members deeply, ensuring each person feels appreciated and supported as an integral part of our community cause.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Lifeguard to join our team, working in an energetic environment alongside passionate colleagues. You will play a key role in inspiring collaboration and helping to maintain the highest standards in safety and customer experience.

Having a National Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) is preferred; however, if you are safety-conscious, a confident swimmer, and enthusiastic about learning, we offer comprehensive training to support you in earning this qualification.

This position offers multiple career progression opportunities within Places Leisure, including operational management, sales, fitness, and customer service pathways.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor and supervise customers and fellow lifeguards using swimming and pool facilities, ensuring their safety at all times.
  • Maintain responsibility for health and safety procedures within the facility, overseeing the safe operation of the building.
  • Apply keen attention to detail to secure a safe environment for all patrons during their use of pool amenities.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, interacting with customers in a friendly and professional manner and exceeding service expectations.
  • Maintain excellent cleanliness hygiene standards throughout the facilities.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Possession of a National Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) is essential.

Learning & Development Opportunities

Continuous training and competency assessments will be provided, including chances to attain first aid at work certification, swimming instructor qualifications, and diverse apprenticeship programs.

Benefits

  • Bonus program offering 2% reward to colleagues.
  • Complimentary Health & Fitness membership for the employee, one nominated adult, and up to four juniors.
  • Flexible working options such as part-time and shift work.
  • Option to purchase additional annual leave.
  • Extensive opportunities for personal growth and learning.
  • Participation in company pension scheme.
  • Cashback plan on healthcare expenses, with potential savings up to £500 yearly.
  • Discounts up to 50% on activities, centre shops, and cafés.
  • Access to extra discounts and offers from various retailers, cinemas, and more.

Additional Information - Safeguarding Commitment

Safeguarding is a priority at Places for People. We are devoted to creating safe environments by protecting children, young people, and vulnerable adults from harm, abuse, and neglect. Our recruitment includes thorough pre-employment screening, including Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks where relevant.

All team members are expected to uphold safeguarding policies, report concerns, and actively contribute to a secure and accountable working culture within our communities.
