Role Overview

As the Lead SDET, you will spearhead the test automation efforts for our web and API platforms. You will be responsible for designing and maintaining the automation architecture, guiding a talented team of SDETs and QA engineers, and collaborating closely with development and product teams to ensure dependable, high-quality software releases. This position demands hands-on expertise in API automation using RestAssured and UI/E2E automation with Playwright, alongside leadership skills and experience integrating with CI/CD environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and uphold scalable automation frameworks utilizing Playwright for UI/E2E testing and RestAssured for API testing.
• Establish and lead the overarching test automation strategy, including tooling choices and best practices across teams.
• Mentor team members, conduct code reviews for automation scripts, and support continuous improvement.
• Integrate automated test suites within CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
• Partner with developers, product managers, and DevOps to embed quality assurance early in the software development lifecycle.
• Create test strategies encompassing functional, regression, integration, performance, and API testing.
• Analyze testing outcomes, address flaky tests and coverage gaps, enhancing reliability and execution speed.
• Develop dashboards and metrics to monitor test coverage, defect patterns, and release quality.
• Make technical decisions on framework architecture, tool selection, and automation return on investment.
• Coach the team on automation standards, best practices, and debugging approaches.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of experience in test automation or SDET roles with demonstrable leadership capabilities.
• Proficient hands-on experience with RestAssured for REST API automation (Java-based).
• Practical expertise in Playwright for UI/E2E automation using Java, TypeScript or JavaScript.
• Strong programming skills in Java and/or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Comprehensive understanding of REST APIs, including JSON/XML formats, HTTP methods, authentication, headers, status codes, and schema validation.
• Experience with BDD frameworks like Cucumber/Gherkin is advantageous.
• Familiarity with test management tools such as Jira, TestRail, or Zephyr.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder interaction, and team leadership skills.
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum software development environments.
