Laundry Associate

Role Overview

This position supports the facility by keeping resident garments and facility linens clean, sorted, folded, and delivered properly. The work includes operating laundry equipment, using cleaning agents correctly, and helping maintain a safe, sanitary, and organized environment.

Primary Duties

• Operate laundry machines to clean facility linens and residents’ personal clothing.
• Load washers with items and add the correct amount of detergent or other approved cleaning products.
• Transfer wet items from washers to dryers and run them for the required cycle time.
• Sort dried laundry, fold it neatly, and place it on shelves or deliver it to resident rooms as needed.
• Wash and dry resident clothing as well as facility linens.
• Make sure clothing and linens are mended and prepared for use.
• Deliver resident laundry to the correct locations.
• Keep the work area clean, orderly, and well maintained.
• Clean dryer filters as instructed.
• Coordinate with the supervisor regarding laundry supply and inventory needs.
• Follow the Housekeeping/Laundry Manual while performing duties.
• Comply with facility personnel policies, safety rules, and corporate procedures.
• Report any witnessed or reported abuse or neglect of residents immediately to the Administrator, Director of Nursing, or Unit Manager.
• Treat residents, family members, visitors, and coworkers with courtesy and dignity.
• Protect resident and family confidentiality at all times.
• Follow all state and federal requirements, including bloodborne pathogen precautions, infection control, hazardous material handling, and fire safety rules.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by an authorized supervisor.

Job Requirements

• Reliable attendance at the worksite is required.
• Basic computer skills are needed.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English is required.
• Must be available to work beyond standard hours, including weekends and holidays when needed.
• Must be able to assist with resident evacuation in an emergency.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation is required.
• If a motor vehicle must be used for business purposes, the company’s motor vehicle policy requirements must be met.
• When lifting or carrying objects over 25 pounds, the employee must use a transfer/gait belt or get help from another employee.
• Physical tasks may include twisting, bending, crawling, squatting, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and balancing.
• Must be able to work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and occasionally hostile individuals.
• Vision and hearing must be adequate, with or without prosthetics, to perform the role safely and effectively.
• Primary physical demands include frequent lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds, and lifting up to 25 pounds; heavier lifting is not required.
• Primary physical demands include constant reaching, pushing/pulling, grasping, handling, and fingering, with torquing required frequently.
• Employees may be required to operate an automobile and various games.

Work Conditions

• This is a full-time, onsite role in Halstead, Kansas.
• Regular attendance at the facility is expected.
• The role may require work outside normal hours, including weekends and holidays.

Additional Information
