The University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) is a national university in Qatar, created under Emiri Decision No. 13 of 2022. Role Summary

The IT Support Specialist will handle hardware and software issues raised through helpdesk tickets or reported directly by students, instructors, and employees. The role is focused on restoring services quickly, reducing disruption, and keeping IT systems running smoothly across the university.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work through IT hardware and application software issues reported via the helpdesk or directly by end users.
  • Coordinate with the IT Helpdesk Specialist to understand user requests and support needs.
  • Speak with employees, students, and instructors to diagnose problems with hardware, software, or systems.
  • Resolve tickets according to urgency and priority, following instructions from the IT Support Supervisor.
  • Assist users with software installation, software upgrades, backups, and system/application configuration when required.
  • Spot recurring IT problems and contribute to improving overall IT service quality.
  • Apply required application updates on time to avoid service interruptions.
  • Support the creation, development, and rollout of new systems and technologies across UDST departments.
  • Maintain and update existing IT systems so staff and academic users can continue using current technologies effectively.
  • Identify technical requirements for projects and help ensure project completion.
  • Help prepare reports used for cost-benefit analysis of technology improvements and prioritise equipment and software needs appropriately.
  • Assist in building and improving standard quality-control processes for troubleshooting across classrooms, labs, and staff offices.
  • Stay informed about current technology trends and apply best practices in IT solution design and delivery.
  • Carry out other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in IT or a closely related field is required.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in IT or a similar area is required.
  • Strong written and spoken English is mandatory.
  • Written and spoken Arabic is an advantage.
