Role overview
This position centers on administering enterprise applications and SQL Server databases, ensuring they remain reliable, secure, and well-performing. The role combines database administration, second-line support for business applications, monitoring, incident handling, and continuous improvement work in a multinational environment.
What you’ll bring
- At least 2 years of practical experience with Microsoft SQL Server, covering installation, setup, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, backups, restores, and maintenance planning.
- Background supporting enterprise or third-party software vendors, including issue resolution, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
- Good working knowledge of Windows Server environments and virtualization technologies; VMware is expected, while Hyper-V is considered an advantage.
- Strong capability in technical troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and implementing fixes.
- Working knowledge of enterprise database fundamentals such as availability, performance, security, and recoverability.
- Basic exposure to cloud platforms, preferably Azure, with AWS or GCP also acceptable.
- Understanding of application lifecycle tasks such as installation, upgrades, patching, and decommissioning.
- Awareness of security and compliance topics, including access control, encryption, and audit preparedness.
- Advanced English communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Ability to independently manage technical tasks and projects from start to finish.
- Strong analytical thinking and a solution-oriented mindset.

Core responsibilities
- Install, configure, administer, and maintain SQL Server databases across different environments.
- Track database health, capacity, performance, and availability on an ongoing basis.
- Carry out performance optimization and SQL diagnostics.
- Ensure database operations align with security, compliance, and audit expectations.
- Produce and update technical documentation and operational procedures.
- Install, upgrade, and support on-premise enterprise applications.
- Own application settings, operating-system dependencies, and integration touchpoints.
- Serve as second-line support for complex incidents escalated from first-line teams.
- Investigate application, OS, and database problems using logs, monitoring tools, and system metrics.
- Work with infrastructure teams while not directly owning infrastructure operations.
- Continuously monitor application and database status through alerting and monitoring tools.
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks related to CPU, memory, storage, and I/O.
- Take part in critical and high-severity incident response alongside incident management.
- Contribute expertise during problem management and root-cause analysis.
- Execute system changes in line with change-management procedures.
- Support upgrades, migrations, and other improvement initiatives for applications and databases.
- Look for ways to strengthen stability, performance, and operational efficiency.
- Assist with standardization and automation efforts where relevant.
- Provide high-quality technical support to other IT teams across Deloitte Central Europe.
- Prepare installation manuals, runbooks, and troubleshooting references.
- Coordinate effectively with local and regional IT teams, application vendors, and global Deloitte IT groups.
- Communicate clearly with both technical specialists and non-technical stakeholders.
