Role overview
DHL Supply Chain East Africa is seeking an Inventory Controller to support warehouse operations in Menengai. The position sits within the Warehouse Operations business unit and reports to the Site Lead, Menengai. The main focus of the role is to help the Operations Manager maintain accurate stock records by reconciling warehouse movements in the system against physical inventory, carrying out cycle counts, completing monthly stock takes, and supporting compliance activities.

Key duties
- Perform daily spot checks, cycle counts, and monthly stock takes, then compare the results with stock balances in the warehouse management system.
- Maintain orderly storage areas by ensuring proper housekeeping and correct stock placement during put-away activities.
- Keep warehouse zone inventory physically aligned with system quantities and support the maintenance of product quality standards.
- Enter nonconformance details in the WMS when stock is misplaced or storage bins do not match, and share a weekly aging report with all relevant stakeholders.
- Escalate any stock losses or other nonconformities to the Operations Manager immediately so investigations and closure can begin without delay.
- Keep accurate daily and monthly records for cycle counts, stock takes, and signed stock-take sheets.
- Take full accountability for safety at workstations and maintain a zero lost-time accident approach.
- Use assigned equipment, including desktops and laptops, responsibly and safely.
- Maintain traceability of stock at all times.
- Carry out any additional duties required by business needs, even if they are outside the listed responsibilities.
- Ensure incidents are escalated on time and work areas remain accident-free.
Candidate profile
The ideal applicant should have a relevant university degree or diploma in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, or Purchasing, along with at least 4 years of experience in inventory management. Experience in warehousing, logistics, or an FMCG environment is preferred. The role also calls for strong planning, organization, analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, commercial awareness, and the confidence to communicate clearly in both spoken and written English.
Requirements
- A degree or diploma in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience handling inventory management responsibilities.
- Background in warehousing, logistics, or FMCG operations.
- Strong planning and organizational ability.
- Good analytical, problem-solving, innovative, and creative thinking skills.
- Commercial awareness and sound business judgment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High level of personal organization and a results-driven mindset.
- Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
- English language ability at a fluent verbal and written level.
