About the Role
We are seeking an Intern to join Samsung's Open Innovation Team at the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology UK (SAIT-UK). SAIT-UK operates as a long-term research division under Samsung's Device Solutions sector, concentrating on cutting-edge technologies like advanced materials, photonics, and future computing. The Open Innovation Team drives European initiatives by partnering with universities, research organizations, startups, and corporate R&D to accelerate innovation and support future semiconductor business growth. The intern will focus on supporting SAIT-UK's European activities, contributing to ongoing projects and collaborations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Samsung's European Global Research Outreach (GRO) engagements, including promoting the program to universities, responding to academic inquiries about GRO guidelines, and maintaining thorough records of communications.
- Gather and analyze data and insights on specified technologies as requested.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest scientific and technological advancements relevant to SAIT's focus areas.
- Identify promising academic talents and foster collaborative discussions with SAIT-UK.
- Participate in pertinent events and summarize key findings and insights.
- Optionally, contribute to the development and improvement of local AI tools if skilled and interested.
Qualifications
- Preferably a PhD or Master's candidate in material science, engineering, physics, or related technology fields; bachelor's degree holders may also be considered.
- A solid scientific and/or technical foundation.
- Experience in producing technical reports that distill core insights from recent scientific and technological trends, summarizing essential points clearly.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- A keen interest in deep technologies including quantum computing, photonics, semiconductors, and AI technologies is advantageous.
- Familiarity with the European technology landscape is beneficial.
- Proficiency in online research with the capacity to filter large data sets to extract pertinent information.
Additional Details
- Location: Staines-upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom
- Employment Type: 3-month internship contract
- Work Arrangement: Hybrid with a minimum of three days onsite and two days remote weekly
- Start Date: Immediate availability preferred; applicants must be able to begin within one month of acceptance.
