About Comfab Aluminum and Role Overview
Comfab Aluminum is a top-tier provider of aluminum and curtain wall systems, with expertise in the production of stick curtain walls, interior screens, canopies, and skylights. We pride ourselves on a highly experienced BIM team and a collaborative workplace culture that encourages innovation, superior quality, and ongoing professional growth.
As we expand our BIM department, we are looking to add a dedicated and detail-driven BIM Specialist to enhance our delivery of outstanding commercial projects. This position focuses on generating accurate shop drawings, material take-offs (MTOs), and fabrication drawings for commercial curtain wall projects by utilizing Revit software. The successful candidate will collaborate with various in-house teams to ensure the design accuracy and compliance with project goals.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop intricate curtain wall models using Revit, including families, schedules, and sheet sets, while ensuring top-quality control standards are upheld.
- Support the initial setup of Revit projects to align with workflow requirements.
- Generate shop drawings, material quantity take-offs, and fabrication release documents leveraging AutoCAD and Revit based on architectural and structural inputs.
- Conduct thorough internal reviews of shop and fabrication drawings alongside senior team members to ensure buildability.
- Update and revise design documents to fix issues or align with updated instructions.
- Interpret site-derived information and translate it into accurate shop and fabrication drawings.
- Perform meticulous reviews of both personal and team outputs for precision.
- Assist in transitioning company standards and details into Revit formats.
- Help manage the family libraries and maintain their revision logs for consistency.
- Contribute to establishing and upholding CAD/BIM standards and procedural guides.
- Participate actively in testing and introducing new BIM research and development initiatives within the company.
- Undertake other duties as assigned by the department leadership.
Qualifications and Experience
- Completion of a university degree or technology diploma in Architecture, BIM, Engineering, Design, or related fields.
- Minimum of two years’ experience working with Revit for modeling, family creation, and data handling.
- Between two to five years of drafting experience, demonstrating proficient 2D AutoCAD abilities.
- Prior exposure to curtain wall systems is highly advantageous.
- Experience with Revit Dynamo scripting is a valued asset.
- Familiarity with Bluebeam, BIM 360, and Autodesk Inventor tools is beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail and a thorough sense of ownership over work quality.
Compensation
The annual salary for this position ranges from $60,000 to $90,000.
