About the Role

The Information Technology Assistant position at Save the Children International's Somaliland Area Office involves providing daily support to ensure smooth functioning of IT systems, equipment, and network services. This role requires maintaining IT assets, resolving technical issues, and assisting users in adherence to the organization's IT policies and guidelines.

Organizational Context

Operating in Somalia for over 70 years, Save the Children Country Office employs more than 450 personnel across 10 field offices and addresses the needs of over 3.2 million beneficiaries in 2024 via health, nutrition, WASH, education, child poverty reduction, protection, and governance programs. Its extensive funding exceeds $109 million from numerous international donors. Mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) efforts are currently integrated across various sectors but lack a formal unified system, which this position aims to strengthen.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver everyday IT support to ensure reliable operation of computers, printers, software, and network equipment.
• Troubleshoot technical problems relating to hardware and software, including LAN/WAN infrastructure components like routers and switches.
• Support Microsoft Windows-based networks, including domain and server management, along with antivirus protection.
• Assist users with IT queries and provide training to enhance technology usage efficiency.
• Manage IT assets in alignment with Save the Children's policies.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline from a recognized institution.
• A minimum of one year experience delivering IT support in a professional setting.
• Practical experience with troubleshooting and maintaining computers, printers, and other IT equipment.
• Basic understanding of LAN/WAN network infrastructures and network troubleshooting techniques.
• Competence with Microsoft Windows networks, servers, domain configurations, and antivirus software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Windows operating systems.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Commitment to the organization's values and child safeguarding principles.
• Experience with international NGOs is advantageous but not essential.
