Role overview

Silverchain Group is seeking a Home Care Worker to support older people living in Port Macquarie and nearby suburbs. The position is centred on helping clients remain safe, comfortable and independent in their own homes while improving their day-to-day wellbeing.

What the role involves

In this position, you will deliver practical home help and social support services to aged care clients. The work may include cleaning tasks, meal-related support, companionship, and transport to activities, along with helping family carers take a break when needed.

  • Cleaning floors through mopping and vacuuming
  • Washing, drying, folding and ironing laundry
  • Preparing meals and assisting with grocery shopping
  • Offering social support and transport for lifestyle or community activities
  • Giving family carers short breaks by stepping in to support the client

What Silverchain is looking for

The ideal candidate enjoys a varied workday, delivers warm and dependable service, and can create good rapport with clients and their families. You should be committed to helping older people live at home for as long as possible, able to stay calm when plans change, and comfortable working on your own while using your judgement to solve routine issues and escalate when needed.

Requirements

  • An open-class Australian driver’s licence
  • Your own vehicle that is roadworthy and insured
  • Interest in community care or aged care
  • Previous experience in care is preferred, though not essential

Pay and benefits

  • Hourly award rate of $38.92 plus superannuation
  • Paid kilometre allowance
  • Employee benefits program
  • Salary packaging of up to $18,550 each year tax free
  • Paid CPR and first aid training
  • Access to training and education opportunities to support career growth

About Silverchain

Silverchain says its care teams and leaders work together to deliver Best Care, defined as care that is safe, personal, connected and effective. The organisation states that it is one of the few Australian home care providers accredited against both national health and aged care standards, and that its not-for-profit structure allows it to reinvest into research and innovative care models.

Other information

Before starting, the selected candidate must complete a statutory declaration, national police check, working rights check, and a pre-employment functional assessment.
