Head of Engineering APAC - Data Centre

About the Role

We are partnering with a financially robust data centre development firm seeking a Head of Engineering for the Asia-Pacific region. This senior leadership position entails establishing engineering protocols, directing multi-nation project execution, and serving as the ultimate technical authority throughout design, construction, commissioning, and operational preparations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead engineering efforts regionally across diverse data centre projects including greenfield, brownfield, hyperscale, and colocation facilities.
• Set and uphold engineering standards, design parameters, and technical governance for CSA and MEP disciplines within the region.
• Serve as the chief technical reviewer for design vetting, value engineering, risk management, and change oversight.
• Manage and monitor engineering quality, uniformity, and compliance across consultants, EPCs, and contractors.
• Collaborate closely with Development, Delivery, Operations, and Commercial teams to ensure smooth project execution and enduring asset reliability.
• Guide and develop country Engineering and Design Manager teams through leadership and mentorship.
• Enhance constructability, optimize schedules, and improve cost efficiency without sacrificing system reliability or resilience.
• Support commissioning plans, readiness for service (RFS), and post-handover technical solutions.
• Engage with clients, hyperscalers, and internal stakeholders to align on technical requirements and commitments.
• Monitor emerging technologies and trends in high-density cooling, sustainability, power redundancy, and cutting-edge data centre design.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services Engineering or a closely related field.
• At least 15 years of experience in data centre or mission-critical infrastructure engineering.
• Proven leadership experience managing multiple countries or regional teams.
• Strong expertise in engineering leadership, design oversight, and technical governance.
• Comprehensive knowledge of data centre MEP and CSA systems, delivery sequencing, commissioning, and operational integration.
• Experience collaborating with global design consultancies, EPC contractors, and infrastructure developers/operators.
• Excellent stakeholder management capabilities with exposure to executive and board-level interactions.
• Ability to thrive in dynamic, rapidly expanding environments.
• Willingness and availability for regional travel as necessary.

Preferred Experience

• Previous roles as Head of Engineering, Engineering Director, or Technical Director.
• Background with data centre developers, hyperscalers, colocation service providers, or mission-critical consultancy firms.
• Familiarity with the APAC market landscape is advantageous.
