About the Role
Principal's Global Equity division is looking for a Graduate Research Associate to join their Equity Research team. This opportunity allows you to gain comprehensive exposure within Principal Global Investors, building a solid foundation in equity research, company valuation, and portfolio strategy. The position is structured to cultivate your skills as an investment professional through hands-on experience in critical areas of the equity research process.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior analysts with research on publicly listed companies within a particular industry sector.
- Examine company, industry, and financial data to uncover key performance drivers; construct and maintain valuation models and forecasting tools to guide investment decisions.
- Support investment research by integrating market trends, macroeconomic data, and company analysis into concise recommendations and written reports.
- Gain insight into the methodology behind investment team decisions regarding buy, sell, and hold positions.
- Engage in strategic discussions with analysts and portfolio managers about investment opportunities and approaches.
Candidate Profile
- Possesses a university degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or holds equivalent experience.
- Demonstrates knowledge of financial statement analysis and accounting principles.
- Has a strong quantitative background with proficiency in financial modeling techniques, statistics, and accounting.
- Capable of efficiently gathering and synthesizing research information.
- Exhibits robust business understanding, high-quality judgment, and an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Is proactive, self-motivated, and has familiarity with economic and investment theories.
