Role Overview

The General Labourer supports daily site operations with tasks including general maintenance, housekeeping, materials handling, and groundskeeping. The role works closely with Maintenance, Operations, Warehouse, and other site teams to uphold a safe, clean, organized, and efficient workplace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out assigned general labour duties throughout the site.
  • Assisting the Maintenance team with routine upkeep and basic non-technical tasks.
  • Supporting preventative maintenance under guidance from trained personnel.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and order in work areas, storage, and common spaces.
  • Performing housekeeping duties such as sweeping, cleaning, and waste removal.
  • Helping with snow removal, groundskeeping, and seasonal maintenance tasks.
  • Assisting with loading, unloading, moving, and staging of materials and equipment.
  • Offering support to Warehouse and Logistics as needed for material organization.
  • Setting up and cleaning after maintenance work, projects, contractors, and events.
  • Caring for tools and equipment by cleaning, organizing, and storing properly.
  • Conducting basic inspections and reporting damaged equipment, hazards, or facility issues.
  • Helping with minor repairs and general upkeep as authorized and trained.
  • Operating company vehicles, forklifts, skid steers, or other equipment when trained and approved.
  • Compliance with all site security, environmental, and safety policies.
  • Participating in safety meetings, training, and completing hazard assessments before applicable work.
  • Promptly reporting hazards, near misses, incidents, and unsafe conditions.
  • Exercising Stop Work Authority when safety is compromised.
  • Collaborating effectively with employees, contractors, and other departments.
  • Performing other tasks aligned with site needs and operations.

Safety Expectations

All employees contribute to workplace safety by following established procedures, attending required training, recognizing and reporting hazards, and halting work when unsafe. Tasks and equipment operation are limited to what each employee is properly trained and authorized to perform.

Qualifications and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience in general labour, construction, maintenance, industrial operations, or warehousing is advantageous.
  • Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver's Licence is preferred.
  • Certification in telehandler, skid steer, aerial work platform, or similar equipment is a plus.
  • Basic familiarity with hand and power tools is beneficial.
  • First Aid certification is an asset.
  • Willingness to undergo company and safety training as required.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to safely lift and carry items up to about 50 pounds.
  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying activities.
  • Work environment includes indoor and outdoor settings with varying weather conditions.
  • Consistent usage of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Operating near industrial machinery and active work zones.
