Job Overview
We are looking for a skilled Game Developer specializing in game tools and modding engineering to join our client's team remotely. This role focuses on creating high-performance real-time applications and requires expertise beyond standard gameplay programming, focusing heavily on graphics systems, rendering pipelines, and low-level optimizations using APIs like DirectX (DX11 and DX12), Vulkan, OpenGL, or similar.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and implement game engine features and systems with a focus on C++ and game engine technologies.
- Create and enhance game-related tools and modding functionalities.
- Develop and optimize rendering pipelines, shaders, and real-time graphics mechanisms.
- Improve performance across CPU, GPU, memory areas, and rendering tasks.
- Extend and maintain tools, engine systems, and development pipelines.
- Collaborate across teams including designers and artists to ensure quality experiences.
- Identify and resolve complex issues surrounding rendering, performance, and cross-platform compatibility.
- Produce organised, well-documented, and maintainable source code.
- Engage in code reviews and support technical decision-making processes.
Required Qualifications
- Between 3 to 6 years of practical experience in game development or real-time graphics programming.
- Strong command of C++ programming.
- Proficient with at least one major graphics API such as DirectX (DX11/12), Vulkan, OpenGL, or Metal.
- Thorough knowledge of rendering pipelines and shader languages like HLSL or GLSL.
- Understanding of 3D mathematics and real-time graphics fundamentals.
- Experience with Unreal Engine or comparable game engines.
- Skills in performance tuning targeting CPU, GPU, memory, and multithreading optimizations.
- Excellent debugging and analytical problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable working autonomously in a remote, distributed team environment.
Preferred Skills
- Background in engine-level customization and low-level system development.
- Experience with graphics profiling tools such as RenderDoc, PIX, Nsight.
- Exposure to cross-platform development and optimization in resource-limited scenarios.
- Knowledge of tooling development, pipelines management, or editor extension creation.
- Experience in multiplayer systems or large-scale game architectures.
