Position Overview
The Cake Decorator plays a key role within the Deli Bakery Department, ensuring excellent customer service while maintaining production and sanitation standards. The role involves creating high-quality baked products, promoting sales, and adhering to food safety and company policies.
Responsibilities
- Deliver enthusiastic, fast, and accurate customer service to foster a positive shopping ambiance.
- Collaborate courteously with fellow team members.
- Apply knowledge of ingredients, mixes, icings, and color coordination for cake decoration.
- Follow production standards and guidelines for all bakery products, including label application.
- Ensure thorough sanitation of the workspace, equipment, and proper food handling techniques.
- Manage ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and merchandising per established policies.
- Adhere strictly to Food Lion’s standard practices, guidelines, and safety regulations.
- Identify and address unsafe conditions to prevent accidents.
- Report any associate or customer incidents promptly following company procedures.
- Comply with all local, state, and federal regulations related to the job.
- Maintain professional appearance by wearing the proper uniform and name badge as per dress code.
- Utilize company tools such as the Average Cost Inventory System (ACIS) and Company Automated Ordering (CAO).
- Complete required computer-based training and on-the-job training materials successfully.
- Perform any additional tasks assigned by management.
Qualifications and Physical Demands
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service abilities.
- Willingness and capability to learn various tasks and job-specific technical requirements.
- Analytical skills to interpret technical information for problem solving.
- Meet minimum age requirements for the duties assigned.
- Capable of meeting the physical demands, including:
- Using computers and communication devices required for the position.
- Repetitive hand and arm movements.
- Bending and lifting products weighing up to 15 pounds continuously, 25 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Pushing or pulling weights up to 75 pounds occasionally.
- Standing continuously throughout the shift; walking short distances often.
- Handling various cleaning agents and packaging substances safely.
- Frequent reaching and grasping at waist level; occasional reaching above shoulder or below waist level.
- Meeting volume productivity targets.
- Tolerating exposure to extreme temperatures for short periods (up to 20 minutes).
