About the Role

The Sun Valley store in Gladstone is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Assistant Manager for the fruit and vegetable department. Reporting to the Fruit & Veg Manager, the successful candidate will lead a small team, oversee scheduling, manage ordering, conduct stock takes, and perform other department management tasks in a fast-paced supermarket environment.

Responsibilities

• Leading and managing a small team within the fruit and veg department
• Creating efficient rosters to ensure adequate staffing
• Generating orders and managing inventory control
• Completing stock takes to maintain accurate product levels
• Coaching, training, and performance managing team members
• Working collaboratively with team and management to maintain department standards
• Upholding work health and safety practices and standards
• Executing merchandising tasks to enhance product presentation

Requirements and Skills

• Experience or knowledge of fresh food retail is preferred but not mandatory
• Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team effectively
• Strong skills in ordering and cost control
• Competence in team scheduling and roster management
• Demonstrated passion and a proactive, hands-on approach
• Exceptional customer service commitment
• Excellent communication skills
• Capability to liaise confidently with both team members and management
• Strong leadership qualities including delegation and team development
• Commitment to maintaining workplace health and safety
