Key Responsibilities
- Fully manage daily finance operations such as accounts payable and receivable, billing, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
- Prepare and audit accounting entries, including accruals, prepayments, and balance-sheet reconciliations.
- Handle month-end closing activities and generate precise profit and loss, balance sheet, and management reports punctually.
- Oversee cash flow management, customer payment tracking, supplier payments, and working capital assessments.
- Develop budgets, financial forecasts, and perform variance analyses to aid business planning and decision-making.
- Ensure accurate and timely invoicing for customers, freight, warehousing, and other service fees.
- Supervise financial management of inventory, including stock valuation, landed costs, cost of goods sold, procurement, and stock adjustments.
- Reconcile sales and payment information from platforms such as Shopify, Stripe, and inventory or warehouse systems.
- Collaborate with warehouse, operations, sales, and account management teams to address billing, stock, and finance discrepancies.
- Initiate and implement enhancements in finance, inventory controls, reporting, and operational processes.
- Maintain rigorous financial controls and ensure adherence to accounting standards, tax obligations, and reporting requirements.
- Provide leadership teams with insightful commercial analyses, margin reports, and recommendations grounded in data.
- Manage and support internal or outsourced bookkeeping resources as necessary.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of five years experience in finance management, commercial accounting, management accounting, or a senior finance role within SMEs.
- Proven hands-on experience leading finance functions in SME or rapidly growing businesses.
- Expertise in Xero accounting software is essential; certification in Xero is highly valued.
- Familiarity with inventory or ERP systems such as Cin7, Unleashed, or DEAR is advantageous.
- Background in wholesale, distribution, eCommerce, manufacturing, logistics, or inventory-centric environments is strongly preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of financial statements, journal entries, accruals, cash flow, and management reporting.
- Practical knowledge of inventory accounting, including landed costs, cost of goods sold, and stock reconciliation.
- Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze data spanning multiple systems confidently.
- Commercial acumen to comprehend impacts of operational choices on margins, cash flow, and profitability.
- Self-motivated, well-organized, and comfortable functioning in a dynamic and entrepreneurial setting.
- Meticulous attention to detail with a determination to investigate and rectify discrepancies.
- A proactive individual who takes full ownership of responsibilities and ensures follow-through to completion.
- CPA or CA qualifications are advantageous but not mandatory given strong relevant experience.
