About the Role
Batterjee Medical College invites applications for an engaging English Faculty Member dedicated to the Preparatory Year Program. The selected candidate will focus on enhancing students' proficiency in academic English, as well as their communication skills, preparing them effectively for medical and healthcare studies.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive English language instruction covering reading, writing, listening, and speaking courses tailored for preparatory year students.
- Enhance students' skills in academic writing, grammar, and communication.
- Facilitate the acquisition of medical and academic terminology relevant to healthcare studies.
- Implement student-centered pedagogical approaches to maximize engagement.
- Effectively use digital learning platforms such as Blackboard LMS and other educational technologies.
- Design, administer, and evaluate assessments including but not limited to ExamSoft or comparable tools.
- Maintain meticulous records of attendance, academic performance, and grading reports.
- Provide personalized academic guidance to students across different English proficiency levels.
- Identify students who are struggling and deliver targeted support to enhance their communication and study skills.
- Ensure compliance with academic policies, quality standards, and accreditation criteria.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of course content.
- Prepare and submit timely course documentation and academic reports.
- Engage actively in departmental meetings, academic discussions, and collaboration with fellow faculty for curriculum consistency.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of a PhD or Master's degree in English, Applied Linguistics, TESOL, or a related discipline.
- Experience teaching English, with preference given to those familiar with preparatory or foundation programs.
- Demonstrated expertise in academic English language instruction.
- Proficiency with learning management systems such as Blackboard and adeptness in using digital teaching tools.
