Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Facilities & Sustainability Manager responsible for managing our facilities and security operations across New Zealand. This role involves ensuring that our buildings and equipment comply with safety standards, are well-maintained, and support the dynamic nature of a freight business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage coordination of contractors for ongoing maintenance, repairs, and upgrades of facilities and Manual Handling Equipment (MHE) nationwide.
  • Organize inductions for contractors working on-site.
  • Oversee facility maintenance activities and communicate effectively with landlords and external contractors.
  • Manage building renovations, upgrades, and both interior and exterior maintenance.
  • Keep all Mondiale VGL New Zealand sites compliant with Warrant of Fitness requirements.
  • Plan, procure, and coordinate the acquisition or optimal use of furniture and facilitate office interior design improvements.
  • Handle office management and procurement ensuring budget adherence while seeking cost-efficient solutions for supplies and incidental expenses.
  • Maintain the integrity and functionality of security systems and locations.
  • Issue and deactivate security cards for team members timely and maintain an up-to-date response plan for after-hours security events.
  • Review and investigate security exception reports, escalating incidents as necessary to management.
  • Evaluate the adequacy of security equipment such as cameras and develop upgrade plans as needed.
  • Recommend enhancements to security measures to senior leadership.

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience combining freight industry knowledge with facilities or sustainability management.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with an organized, proactive problem-solving approach.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage contractors, landlords, and senior leaders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and NZQA certification; post-secondary qualifications highly desirable.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and sound judgment especially under pressure.
