Role overview
Exyte is looking for a Mechanical Quantity Surveyor to manage the commercial side of mechanical preconstruction work on data centre projects across Northern Europe.
About the Data Centers division
The Data Centers (DTC) division provides end-to-end data centre delivery, covering everything from design through to construction. The team focuses on efficiency and dependability, and has delivered a wide range of projects globally, including advanced intelligence facilities, hyperscale campuses, colocation sites, and cloud-computing centres using both conventional and modular construction methods.
What you will do
- Build detailed cost estimates for mechanical systems such as HVAC and plumbing.
- Review drawings, specifications, and tender packs to work out quantities and pricing.
- Prepare cost plans and budgets for the mechanical scope.
- Apply digital tools such as Bluebeam, CostX, and Revit to improve measurement accuracy and speed.
- Support procurement planning, including package structuring and early buying of long-lead and high-value materials.
- Make sure every mechanical element is fully identified and classified for tendering and procurement.
- Send tenders to subcontractors and suppliers.
- Assess and negotiate bids from subcontractors for mechanical works.
- Recommend procurement approaches for mechanical packages.
- Examine designs and suggest value engineering or alternative specifications to improve value.
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate will have a diploma or degree at third level in Quantity Surveying or a closely related discipline, along with at least 5 years of relevant post-qualification experience with a main contractor, preferably in data centres. Experience should include data centre client projects worth more than €500M in total and a strong background in commercial construction projects within that sector. You should also have experience negotiating packages, be comfortable using Word, Excel, and Outlook, and communicate clearly in both written and verbal form. Strong analytical thinking, logical judgement, and accuracy with numbers are essential.
