Role overview
We are seeking an Executive - Safety to support airside safety, incident handling, emergency preparedness, compliance activities, and safety awareness at the airport in Navi Mumbai. The role focuses on day-to-day safety monitoring, documentation, coordination with multiple airport teams, and helping maintain alignment with regulatory and internal standards.
What you will do
- Carry out regular safety checks across airside operations to confirm adherence to required regulatory and internal safety practices.
- Spot unsafe conditions during inspections and work with the concerned teams to reduce or remove safety risks.
- Record safety incidents and near-misses, support investigations by collecting details, and prepare the required reports.
- Track incident closures by coordinating with the Lead and other teams so corrective measures are implemented and repeat issues are avoided.
- Support planning and execution of emergency drills so personnel remain familiar with response procedures.
- Review drill outcomes and help update emergency action plans in line with operational needs and applicable standards.
- Conduct safety briefings and OHS training sessions for airside staff to reinforce safe practices and current guidelines.
- Share updated safety notices and reminders to strengthen ongoing safety awareness across operational teams.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, and safety data to support informed decision-making.
- Review safety trends at a basic level to identify recurring concerns and improvement opportunities, and share findings with the Lead.
- Investigate safety incidents in depth by collecting evidence, speaking with witnesses, and identifying root causes.
- Help drive corrective and preventive actions so identified issues are addressed and future recurrence is reduced.
- Support implementation of OHS policies and procedures across the airport so they are understood and followed.
- Assist with execution of the Safety Management Plan and related safety management activities.
- Help perform safety inspections and hazard assessments in line with OSHAS and SMS requirements.
- Support implementation of the Environmental Management Plan by monitoring compliance-related activities.
- Participate in environmental data collection, documentation, and reporting as required under ISO-14001.
- Support health compliance initiatives by helping document and monitor health-related activities.
- Ensure health records are maintained correctly and assist with closure of non-conformities.
Stakeholders you will work with
Internal: Lead - Aviation Safety (Regional), Airside Operations, Engineering and Maintenance, Security, Compliance, Ground Handling Agents.
External: DGCA, BCAS, airport concessionaires, airlines, and emergency response agencies.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Aviation Safety, Aerospace Engineering, Safety Management, or a related discipline is required. A postgraduate qualification in Aviation Safety or Safety Management is preferred.
Certifications preferred
Preferred certifications include Airport Safety and Operations Specialist (ASOS), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Project Management Professional (PMP), and Aerodrome Safety Management System (SMS) training from DGCA.
Experience
Applicants should have 3 to 5 years of experience in aviation safety, airside operations, or a similar aviation-sector role.
