Evolve Fleet Support

About the role

BCAA is seeking a contractor to join the Evolve team in the Southern Vancouver Island region. This one-year assignment may be extended by another year. The role must be based in southern Vancouver Island, and the schedule follows five consecutive workdays, including at least two weekend days. Shifts rotate each month between early mornings and late evenings, and the successful candidate needs to be comfortable covering either shift according to business requirements.

In this position, you will support the field and warehouse operations behind BCAA’s shared e-bike and e-scooter services. Your work will help keep the fleet safe, charged, clean, and ready for Members, while also supporting special initiatives and Evo Car Share operations when needed.

What you'll do

• Move e-bikes and e-scooters between parking areas, staging locations, and maintenance sites as needed.
• Check devices and helmets before and after repositioning to spot damage, malfunctioning parts, or cleanliness issues.
• Wash and tidy fleet vehicles and related equipment, including e-bikes, e-scooters, helmets, and signage.
• Replace batteries and make sure chargers are properly connected in the work area.
• Swap out damaged or worn helmets and equipment in the field.
• Connect batteries to chargers and monitor the charging process at assigned locations.
• Offer courteous, helpful support to Members during field-based interactions.
• Diagnose routine problems such as connectivity, GPS, or IoT issues.
• Accept, organize, and track warehouse stock such as parts and supplies.
• Get fleet units ready for deployment following operating procedures.
• Keep warehouse areas clean, orderly, and operational.
• Review daily and weekly reporting and adjust tasks to stay on target.
• Monitor fleet and parts inventory levels and place requests when supplies run low.
• Raise operational concerns and suggest process improvements to the Operations Manager.
• Assist with Evo Car Share fleet operations when required.
• Take part in special projects and continuous improvement work.
• Represent BCAA and Evolve professionally in all public-facing situations.

What you bring

• At least 1 year of experience in customer service, mechanical work, or automotive-related roles.
• Grade 12 completion or an equivalent level of education.
• Strong eye for detail and solid organizational ability.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills for working with team members and Members.
• Ability to work independently and manage daily responsibilities with limited supervision.
• Good time management and multitasking skills in a busy environment.
• Intermediate knowledge of MS Office tools such as Word, Excel, and Outlook; CRM familiarity is an advantage.
• Physical capability to work outdoors in different weather conditions, stand or walk for long periods, and lift or carry more than 70 lbs.
• Comfort handling, rolling, and stabilizing e-bikes and e-scooters, including units over 90 lbs.
• Willingness to ride, or learn to ride, e-bikes, e-scooters, and e-cargo bikes.
• Valid BC Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
• Availability for evenings, weekends, and extended hours when needed.
• Comfort working in warehouse and outdoor settings with exposure to fumes, noise, and changing temperatures.

Compensation and benefits

The pay range for this role is $25.70/hour to $32.12/hour, equivalent to an annualized range of $45,406.32 to $56,757.84. Pay is set based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, market demand, and internal equity. In addition to base pay and BCAA benefits, the role is eligible for a performance bonus target of 5%, with potential earnings up to 9%.
