Employment Coach

Position Overview

The Employment Coach will deliver direct vocational assistance to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, supporting them at various community job sites and at the organization's office. This role involves helping individuals prepare for, secure, and sustain employment opportunities through both group and individualized coaching, including supporting Apprenticeship and Internship initiatives and teaching employment-related classes within the ACE Academy program. The position emphasizes collaboration with the Director of Employment Services and the Adult Continuing Education Director to ensure coordinated service delivery and enhancement of participants' quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver vocational training covering a spectrum from pre-vocational skills to competitive integrated employment within existing service frameworks.
• Offer coaching support in various settings including one-on-one, small group, and large group engagements.
• Design and execute curriculum for onsite employment classes.
• Communicate effectively and make well-informed decisions in collaboration with participants, their supporters, and relevant stakeholders.
• Establish and nurture relationships with local employers and community organizations.
• Apply evidence-based teaching methods to enhance vocational skills and behaviors that promote employability and independence.
• Document participant attendance, engagement data, and schedules, sharing updates with involved parties.
• Prepare progress reports, data sheets, and other necessary documentation.
• Model professionalism and appropriate adult conduct for participants.
• Ensure safety, dignity, and a supportive learning environment for all participants, monitoring individuals at job sites.
• Transport participants using organization vehicles to community engagement activities.
• Comply with all policies, procedures, confidentiality guidelines, and protocols as outlined in the organization's Employment Guide and at community job sites.
• Engage in mandatory professional development and training sessions.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's Degree required; High School Diploma or GED equivalent is also necessary.
• Experience working with adolescents and adults with Down syndrome or intellectual disabilities in educational or skill-building roles.
• Preferred familiarity with prompt fading, modifications, visual supports, task analysis, promoting independence, and problem-solving strategies for task completion.
• Strong communication and organizational capabilities paired with proven leadership skills.
• Excellent interpersonal abilities and adept at engaging with diverse individuals.
• Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Embraces a growth mindset and adapts flexibly to the organization's evolving needs.
• Demonstrable positive influence on workplace culture backed by references.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred; training can be provided upon hire.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.
• Successful completion of background check is mandatory.
