Role Overview
We invite applications from motivated individuals with emergency response experience to join the Carrapateena Emergency Services team. This well-respected group handles a high volume of emergency incidents involving fire, rescue, hazardous materials, and medical situations at both surface processing and underground mining operations. The team operates with an advanced fleet comprising two ambulances, two fire engines, and a rescue appliance.
This role is based at Carrapateena and involves fly-in-fly-out (FIFO) shifts from Adelaide or Port Augusta. Work follows a shared roster with seven nights on, seven days off, followed by eight days on and six days off.
Key Duties
- Manage and respond efficiently to emergencies, including fires, rescues, hazardous material spills, and medical incidents both underground and on the surface.
- Lead and participate in training programs, knowledge exchanges, and practical emergency response drills for volunteer responders onsite.
- Commit to continual professional growth to uphold and enhance relevant skills and certifications.
- Maintain emergency readiness by ensuring compliance with team training standards and performing inspections and upkeep on vehicles and emergency equipment.
- Work collaboratively with various operational units to conduct inspections, observe work practices, and validate critical safety controls, fostering strong working relationships.
Candidate Profile
Essential qualifications and credentials include:
- Certificate III in Emergency Response and Rescue or an equivalent qualification.
- Certificate IV or higher in Health Care or a related discipline.
- Hold a Heavy Rigid (HR) driver’s license and a minimum Class C driver’s license.
Preferred attributes that will strengthen applications:
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Paramedic or Registered Nurse.
- Experience serving in State Emergency Services roles.
- Previous employment within an underground mining environment.
- Certification in Drug and Alcohol Testing processes.
