Job Overview

This role is for an Electronics Sourcing & Procurement Engineer based in Rajkot, working onsite in the R&D / Hardware Sourcing & Procurement department. It is a full-time position requiring 5 to 10 years of experience. Candidates should hold a B.E. or B.Tech degree in ECE, EEE, E&I, or related fields, with a Master's in Supply Chain or Materials Management preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage sourcing and purchasing of electronic components including active parts (ICs, microcontrollers, FPGAs, power devices), passive components (resistors, capacitors, inductors), electromechanical parts, connectors, and modules in line with design BOMs.
• Procure small devices, sub-assemblies, sensors, display units, and embedded modules for both prototype and production phases.
• Source test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, bench power supplies, soldering and rework stations as well as specialized instrumentation needed for electronics labs.
• Translate engineering BOMs and purchase requisitions accurately into purchase orders specifying correct parts, quantities, and specifications.
• Identify, assess, and onboard distributors and manufacturers, both domestic and global, building and maintaining a robust vendor base with alternatives for critical items.
• Lead negotiations on pricing, payment terms, lead times, minimum order quantities, and framework agreements to secure favorable terms.
• Monitor and enhance vendor performance focused on quality, delivery, and responsiveness through structured scorecards.
• Drive initiatives for cost savings, including should-cost analysis and spend consolidation across components and equipment.
• Oversee lead time management, buffer inventories, and reorder planning to ensure R&D and pilot runs progress without delays.
• Manage end-of-life (EOL) challenges, obsolescence, allocation issues, and shortages by proactively securing alternatives and facilitating last-time buys.
• Collaborate closely with hardware, firmware, PCB, and testing teams to align procurement with design and project timelines.
• Coordinate with stores, quality, finance, and logistics teams regarding stock receipt, inspection, and payment processes.
• Support new product introductions by providing early insights into availability, cost, and lead times.
• Ensure compliance with RoHS, REACH, and specification standards, maintaining datasheets and certifications on file.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of vendor master data, pricing histories, purchase orders, goods receipt notes, and import paperwork when applicable.
• Support import procurement processes including HSN classification, customs coordination, and shipping logistics for overseas suppliers.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• 5 to 10 years of experience in sourcing and procurement focused on electronic components, preferably in product design, development, or manufacturing sectors.
• Proficient in interpreting BOMs, datasheets, and technical specifications to select accurate or alternative parts.
• Hands-on knowledge of component categories such as semiconductors, passive components, connectors, electromechanical parts, modules, and test equipment.
• Strong vendor development and negotiation skills covering pricing, lead times, MOQs, and commercial agreements.
• Experience working with distributor platforms like Mouser, DigiKey, Arrow, Avnet, element14, and Indian/local vendors.
• Familiarity with ERP or procurement systems such as SAP, Oracle, and advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities.
• Understanding of compliance standards like RoHS and REACH and management of component obsolescence.

Preferred Additional Qualifications and Experience

• Postgraduate degree in supply chain management, sourcing, or materials management.
• Experience with sourcing for industrial automation or embedded/power electronics.
• Knowledge of import procurement workflows, customs procedures, HSN codes, and Incoterms.
• Exposure to PLM and BOM management software and cost modeling practices.
• Relevant professional certifications such as CPSM or CIPS.
